I got to catch a screening of Dreamworks's new animation The Croods this morning with my daughter and a few of my friends with their children.  The Croods is about a family of cavemen, with your typical rebellious daughter and an overprotective father.

While, the story may be typical the laughs are great.  Both myself and my daughter enjoyed it alot.  And of the other parents and children I asked they really enjoyed it as well.  Nicholas Cage does a wonderful job as the father Grug, while Emma Stone plays the rebellious daughter Eep. Ryan Reynolds was hard to imagine as the voice of the nomadic cave boy Guy.  But he did a very good job as well.

Over the past year I've seen quite a few quality animations from various studios.  My favorite I would say is ParaNorman, followed by Rise of the Guardians and my least favorite would be Hotel Transylvania.  My daughter did enjoyed the last one though.  But for The Croods, its enjoyable for adults and children.  Each of the characters unique in their own way and full of humor.  To be honest when I saw the trailer I didn't have high expectations.  I'm glad we went though.

The movie is not officially out til March 22nd.  I would highly recommend it.  If you haven't seen the trailer yet, you can view it here.

Do you plan to see The Croods?  What was the last animation you saw that you enjoyed?
