To be honest I did not know much about Bergdorf Goodman prior to attending the NYC Premiere of this movie.  I have never step foot in the store nor even knew it was just down Fifth Avenue from my work.  Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's gives you an inside look into the history and the personalities that make Bergdorf the icon it is in both New York City and the fashion world.

I was able to get an invitation to attend the New York City Red Carpet premiere this past Monday at the French Institute on 59th Street.  Some of the celebrities and Fashion icons that attended included Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger, Christian Siriano, Nicky Hilton, and Maura Tierney.

The movie consisting of photos along with voice recorded interviews with Andrew Goodman as well as interviews with a who's who in the Fashion world and Celebrities.  They included designers Jason Wu, Vera Wang, Giorgio Armani, Mary Kate and Ashley Olson and Actresses Joan Rivers and Susan Lucci.  The latter half of the movie focuses more on the employees that make the store great such as Linda Fargo who makes the choices of which designers make it to Bergdorf's.  Overall, I enjoy the movie.  As a documentary I definitely learn a lot about the store and better insight to how things work in the fashion world.  As much as I like the movie there are a lot of flaws.

The movie listed at 93 minutes on is not long at about a hour and a half.  But with some of the material included in the movie that is mostly unnecessary drags it out longer than it should.  In particular, the movie goes through the whole stage of the department store designing their Winter Holiday windows one particular year.  The whole process is interesting but a lot of scenes could have been shorten to keep the audience's attention.  The other issue that I have is the choice of the Director's lack of use of transitions and abundant use of flashy lights and fast forward clips unnecessarily.  The latter during those time, leaves you thanking God that you're not prone to seizures.

I would still recommend this film however especially if you're into Fashion.  If you're not, I would say skip it. Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's gets 2.5 stars out of 5.0 stars.
