I actually watched this screening awhile ago but was told to hold off on my reviews til the night of film release for Gofobo screenings.  Red 2 sees the return of Bruce Willis as Frank Moses in this spy comedy thriller.  With the tag "The Best Never Rest", it features veteran actors as aging spys with a lot of fight left in them.

They're called into action once again to recover a portable weapon of mass destruction thought long lost during the cold war.  Everything that you enjoyed in the first film is repeated with a few new cast members including Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Lee Byung-hun.  Every character is excellent except I've never really cared for Mary-Louise Parker's character.  To me, she seems to be trying too hard and comes off as totally unbelievable and unlikeable.  Helen Mirren on the other hand is brilliant once again, especially playing a role thatt's she has won an Emmy and Academy Award before to much comical effect.

The story while quite far fetched, and everything new seems old again, still is quite enjoyable as a summer film.  The twists with Anthony Hopkins were quite interesting and unpredictable but seems quite out of character.  While Lee Byung-hun doesn't get much of a speaking role as Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe films, he gets to show off more in this film prepping him hopefully as the next big action hero.  Catherine Zeta-Jones as the sultry Miranda will have you clamoring for a spin-off.

Overall, I would recommend this film.  While it's not necessary to watch Red 1 first, I would recommend it just to see how Frank and his girl Sarah meet.

Red 2 is Rated PG-13 and is out July 19, 2013.  The run time is 116 minutes.  Movie contains: Pervasive action and violence including frenetic gunplay, and for some language and drug material.
