Season four began last week for The Walking Dead with a whimper.  The episode "30 Days Without an Accident", was more of a set up of the next episode and episodes to come.  But if you look beyond what may seem like a relatively slow episode you'll find that it plays pretty close to the theme of the comic book.

The reason why I say this is that, Robert Kirkman has always said that the book and subsequently the show is not just about zombies, but about the people living and coping in this new world full of dangers of the walking kind.  This definitely holds true for the first episode as we're introduced to a whole slew of new characters.  Some possibly recurring while some, well, got the sharp end of a blade.

Another thing to note of this episode is the continued absence of the Governor.  Michonne is shown briefly having returned on a hunt for him empty handed.  It'll be interested to see how long that loose end is tied up and in what manner.  As I've said before, the episode gives hints as to what's to come.

If you've seen the trailer for tonight's episode, then you know the "shit" will hit the fan.  Given this episode lack of action other than the supermarket scene, tonight's will surely be a welcomed one.

Did you enjoy the first episode of Season 4?
