Hardcore Henry is perhaps one of the most unique movies
you're going to experience watching this year. As it puts you through a first
person-perspective throughout the entire movie, in a action-jam pack that would
keep you on the edge of your seat -- or perhaps for some, motion sickness. As
the story puts you in a situation where you just woke up from an amnesia, as
well as unable to talk; this allows the viewer to become part of Hardcore
Henry's world, and journey with him through the action throughout the entire
movie.
Starring Sharlto Copley, Danila Kozlovsky, Haley Bennett,
and Tim Roth; the casts have performed a great acting performance together that
creates a narrative dialogue to the main character Henry on the story, while
still keeping the story progression going. Because it was given that Henry is
unable to speak, the performance from each of the actors help made it feel
natural when they are having a conversation with Henry. Each of the actors help
the viewer understand the current situation from their dialogue and body
language; this allows the first perspective view to become effective, in order
to suspend our disbelief and become part of the movie.
While this movie may be unique to use the first person
perspective view, this element is actually quite common in the video games,
parkour videos, go-pro cam and dark rides at theme park. The only difference
was this was a full feature length movie, filled with action pack that would
satisfy any movie goers who appreciates a thrill ride. However, this movie may
not be for everyone as well; as this movie can cause motion sickness to those
who have a weak stomach, as it contain many scenes that would go in a motion
similar to a roller coaster.
In the end, this movie may be a movie that may satisfied
those who love action, but can also alienate those who don't appreciate
watching a movie in that type of perspective. As this movie will likely be
appreciated by those who are a professional video game player, or those who
appreciate parkour; but to those who don't, may find it frustrating to watch.
